Extinction of species is a commonly known phenomenon. But a less known term is “Extinction in the Wild”, is about disappearance of species except the ones left over in the captivity (zoos). Interesting, isn’t it! Although slim, but they have a chance to regain their existence on the planet. I will give two prominent examples of animals that are extinct in the wild.
Extinction is full disappearance of a particular species from the planet. Pre — historic reptiles (dinosaurs), Mammoth, Dodo etc. are well known examples of extinct animals.

First example is of camel. It’s the wild Bactrian camel. It is distinguished from the domesticated one by lesser amount of hair on its body. At present, these camels are extinct in the wild and their protection status is rare (critically endangered).
As the two subspecies of tiger- Bali and the Javan tiger become extinct, the South China tiger remains extinct only in the wild. The other subspecies are endangered. Gloomy future for this big cat!
Great apes like gorillas and orangutans might also have the same outcome. So do polar bears , penguins etc.
